An ode to Big Bob - Burger Wellington
Burger Wellington is here and Tola & Chantha - store owners of Winner Winner Courtenay Place - have thrown their hats (and fried chicken) into the ring with their southern-style burger entry 'An ode to Big Bob'.
Stacking up against some epic burger entries from our Wellington neighbours, An ode to Big Bob features WW fried chicken, Apostle Hot Sauce slaw, McClure's sweet & spicy pickles, Swiss cheese, tobacco onions and housemade white BBQ sauce. Served with hand-cut, triple fried crinkles and gravy.
This year's Burger Wellington theme is ‘common ground’ and we wanted to showcase this by maintaining common ground between An ode to Big Bob and the rest of the Winner Winner menu. This included staying true to our roots and using the same light, airy bun that you'd find on our menu staple and OG WW classic - the Chicken Sandwich. We also use our specialty own-recipe buttermilk Winner Winner crispy fried chicken.
An ode to Big Bob lets customers come in, try what we have to offer Burger Wellington, while getting a wee taster of some of the classics they can expect on our menu after the competition.
But who the heck is Big Bob? We're glad you asked. The name 'An ode to Big Bob' is a salute to the inventor of the white BBQ sauce, Robert Gibson of Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q in Alabama. Before serving chicken, Big Bob would dunk it in white BBQ sauce to add a tanginess and richness you wouldn't get from any old BBQ sauce. You're a winner (winner), Big Bob!
